Mindless Self Indulgence stream new album

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Mindless Self Indulgence have streamed their new album If in it’s entirety on their Myspace page. 24 hours and almost 700,000 plays later, Mindless Self Indulgence is the number one band on MySpace in all genres globally, though the band have never been off the top 10 list for almost 4 years now.
If is released April 29th, and any caveman wanting one of those ye olde shiny discs (CDs?) will have to sacrifice all their street-cred by going to Hot Topic to buy one. Thanks MSI.

New material from AC/DC

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

AC/DC posted on their website (which is apparently no longer a pr0n site, “though still is dirty”):

The waiting is almost over! AC/DC fans can expect the band’s next album of new material sometime later this year. The band are currently recording in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien and long time audio engineer Mike Fraser. This will be the band’s first collection of new material since the release of Stiff Upper Lip in 2000.

Guns and Roses delivers Chinese Democracy

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Axl Rose and the dudes he got to replace Slash and Buckethead have apparently finished Chinese Democracy, an album that has been in the works for about 14 years. To put that into context, most of the people reading this are around 14 years old. Needless to say we’re expecting something mind-blowing here, especially when one considers that Geffen are reportedly paying $13 million for the album. That’s almost a million a year!

Don’t get too excited though, the album’s completion has been reported several times, without it’s actual apparition. In fact I might just go and draft “No Chinese Democracy afterall”…

Sanctity looking for new singer

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Sanctity have recently parted ways singer Jared MacEachern (as well as bassist Derek Anderson), and are now looking for a new vocalist. Jared became a father late last year, and has left the band to concentrate on his family it seems.
The band who originally were signed on Roadrunner (after Matt Heafy of Trivium saw them perform), have now been dropped by the label. Ouch. Talk about kicking people when they’re down. The band however, seems determined to carry on, and are holding auditions for a new vocalist.

Myspace Music launch

Friday, April 4th, 2008

The suits and ties behind Myspace have launched Myspace Music, a music download service to rival iTunes.

News Corp. has announced the long-anticipated MySpace Music, a music portal that will let users stream and download music in addition to allowing them to buy concert tickets and merchandise.

Yay for capitalism!

Velvet Revolver and Scott Weiland part ways

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Velvet Revolver have parted ways with their “increasing erratic” vocalist Scott Weiland.
The supergroup have sparked many break-up rumours in the past few weeks, so it’s hardly surprising to hear that they’ve ditched Scott, who is well known for his drug problems.
Slash was quoted as saying:

This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either

Apparently Scott is all about acting weirdly and taking drugs, something completely alien to the world of rock *cough*.
